1. About this site
This website is operated by volunteers to support fundraising for St Catherine's Hospice.
We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of St Catherine's Hospice. All auctions are run independently by volunteers, and the hospice is not responsible for the operation of this site or any items listed.
By using this site, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.
2. Eligibility
To use this site, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Create an account using accurate and up-to-date information
You are responsible for keeping your login details secure.
3. Auction items
- Items listed on this site are donated by third-party donors.
- Item descriptions and images are provided in good faith but may not be perfect.
- We do not guarantee the condition, authenticity, or suitability of any item.
By placing a bid, you accept the item as described.
4. Bidding
- You must not place bids you do not intend to honour.
- Once an auction closes, the highest valid bid at the closing time will win.
We reserve the right to:
- Remove bids that appear fraudulent or abusive
- Cancel auctions in exceptional circumstances (e.g. technical issues)
If the donation is not successfully completed and confirmed via JustGiving within five (5) working days of the auction ending, we reserve the right to:
- Cancel the winning bid, and
- Offer the item to the next highest eligible bidder at their final bid price.
- This process may be repeated until payment is successfully completed or the item is withdrawn.
5. Winning an auction
If you win an auction:
- The item listing will provide instructions on how to make your donation
- We will also notify you by email within 24 hours of when the auction closes with instructions
- Your contact details may be shared with the item donor solely to arrange delivery or collection of the item
- You may also be contacted if you are a runner-up
We will only email you for essential auction-related purposes.
6. Donations (via JustGiving)
- All donations for winning bids are handled exclusively through JustGiving.
- We do not process, store, or handle payment details ourselves.
- Once a payment has been made via JustGiving, it is subject to JustGiving's own terms and refund policies.
We are unable to issue refunds directly.
Any refund requests must be made through JustGiving, in accordance with their refund policy.
By placing a bid, you acknowledge that:
- Payments are final unless the JustGiving's refund is followed
- We have no control over payment processing or refund decisions
7. Delivery and collection of items
Delivery or collection arrangements are made directly between the winning bidder and the item donor
We are not responsible for:
- Delivery delays
- Loss or damage during delivery
- Failed communication between bidders and donors
We will share limited contact details between the winner and donor only for the purpose of arranging receipt of the item.
8. Donors
By donating an item, donors agree that:
- They have the right to donate the item
- The item description is accurate to the best of their knowledge
- They will make reasonable efforts to deliver or make the item available to the winning bidder
We reserve the right to remove donor listings that appear misleading or inappropriate.
9. User accounts
- Users may delete their account at any time via the site or by emailing us to request deletion
- Upon deletion, your account will be removed, subject to any legal or record-keeping requirements
- We may retain limited data where necessary for audit or legal purposes
10. Data protection and privacy
Personal data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
We will:
- Only collect data necessary to run auctions
- Only email users when they are winners, runners-up, or for essential auction-related communication
- Share user details with donors only when necessary to fulfil an auction
We do not sell or use personal data for marketing purposes.
11. Volunteer-run platform disclaimer
This site is run entirely by volunteers.
We:
- Make no guarantees regarding availability or uninterrupted access
- Accept no liability for technical issues, outages, or data loss
- Act in good faith to support charitable fundraising but provide no professional or commercial guarantees
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses
- We are not responsible for disputes between donors and bidders
- Our total liability is limited to the amount paid via JustGiving for the relevant auction
12. Images and Intellectual Property
All images, descriptions, and other content relating to donated items are provided by donors in good faith. By submitting content to the site, donors confirm that they have the necessary rights, permissions, or licences to use and share any images or materials provided.
The site is run by volunteers and does not independently verify the ownership or licensing of submitted content. We accept no responsibility for any infringement resulting from materials supplied by donors.
If you believe that any content on the site infringes your intellectual property rights, please contact us and we will review and, where appropriate, remove the content promptly.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time.
Continued use of the site constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
